The eight-colour granny square throw is progressing and my concerns over the colour scheme have calmed down a bit. Funny how you can look at something in a (literally) different light and things don’t seem so bad after all. Or, perhaps the lesson to be found here is to keep moving forward. To have a plan and stick to it. To ignore the doubts and carry on.
And I thought it was just yarn.
Stay tuned for the next episode of Life Lessons Katie Learnt from Crochet!
Hey Katie – looks lovely! I was wondering what kind of yarn you are using. I taught myself to crochet a couple of weeks ago and I’m hooked (tee hee!) but I don’t know much about different types of yarn. Any tips?
Hope to see you at the next Brown Owls!
Hi Larissa,
I’m using Panda Magnum Soft, it’s an acrylic 8ply. It’s on sale at Lincraft now actually. I love it and use it a lot, it’s super soft and machine washable.

Thanks Katie! What size hook? I’m currently making some granny square slippers out of a nice thick yarn, but I want to make a blanket too!
Usually I use a 4mm hook as suggested on the yarn packet. (Look for the knitting needles symbol and use the same size (in mm) hook.)
This time I’m using a bigger hook, a 6mm I think, which results in a looser, bigger stitch.

I love all of your colors!
