Do sew-in extensions hurt?
While weaves must be tightly sewn into close braided hair, they should never cause serious pain. It is important to speak up if you experience scalp pain or soreness while your weave is being fitted as your stylist may be unaware of how tight they are pulling.
Why do sew ins itch so bad?
At times, stylists may braid your hair too tightly and or sew the hair in too tightly. When the hair is pulled too tightly, hair follicles become inflamed. This may lead to itching.
How often should you wash your sew in?
A good rule of thumb is to wash your sew in every 7 days, with 10 days being the absolute maximum. Tip: After you clean your scalp, deep condition your extensions to keep the hair soft, tangle free and to revitalize the curl pattern.
How long should a sew in last?
A sew in can last 6 to 10 weeks we recommend you come to the salon for maintenance service every 2 weeks for a shampoo and 4 to 6 weeks after install for tightening. Matting, tangling, and dreading (which leads to hair loss) may result if you leave your weave in too long.
