Will embroidery come undone in the wash?

Don’t wash vintage pieces as freely as newly embroidered. Some old articles may have their thread or fabric ruining, so active washing can destroy them completely. It doesn’t mean though that they shouldn’t be cleaned at all, just they require a special care.

Spot treat embroidery ink with hairspray or another acetone product. Use a cotton swab to gently rub the visible areas of ink with the hairspray or acetone product, then use a small dab of water to remove it.

How do you care for embroidery materials?

In order to remove all residue, we recommend rinsing embroidered garments in lukewarm water and then rinsing in cold water several times until rinse water is clear. Stain removers may damage the color and consistency of the embroidery thread especially when scrubbed by hand or with a brush.
