How many strands of embroidery thread do you use?
If you want a bold line that can still manage decent detail, start with three strands. If you want a finer line that’s still easily visible, try two strands. If you want a very fine line for delicate detail, one strand will do it!
How do you store extra thread?
Another method of organizing embroidery floss is to use small plastic ziploc bags. Each bag holds one colour. Full skeins and leftover strands can be stored in the same bag. You can store the bags in boxes or baskets in either number or colour order.
How do I unravel a new thread?
Do you? Pull on the bottom of the spool. It will pop open. This is nice because after you use the spool, you can wrap the thread around by using the notches in the bottom of the spool and then push up on the bottom and it locks the thread back in place.
