How do you protect felt?
Spraying your fabric with a sealant such as Scotchguard will keep the felt from absorbing any liquid and make water bead up on top of its surface, preventing damage to your felt. It also helps prevent moisture-related mold growth if you are storing fabrics for long periods between use.
Can I use felt as a fabric stabilizer?
Felt is thick, so you don’t need batting for projects like mug rugs and coasters. But it is helpful to use a light- to medium-weight cutaway stabilizer in place of batting, especially if you’re using a lighter weight felt (like polyester made from recycled water bottles).
