How do you finish the edges of faux fur?
Since faux fur is knit, cut edges don’t fray. Because of this, the knit fur backings can be sewn with a hinge seam. This means the faux fur fabric can be cut with no seam allowances and sewn edge to edge with a zigzag stitch. If you do opt for a seam allowance, stay in the ¼- to ½-inch range.
Can you Serge faux fur?
Serge your seams. A serged seam is going to do double duty on faux fur. It’ll keep the inside looking pretty and it’ll keep the fluffy nonsense out of your way.
Can you iron faux fur?
Heat must not be applied to Faux Fur so it is impossible to iron and even the smallest amount of shrinkage can cause the product to look misshapen. Spot cleaning with cold water and/or gentle soap is the best way for small areas – for a thorough cleaning we recommend dry cleaning.
